Laylatul Qadr is a blessed night in the month of Ramadan. It is also called as the Night of Decree, Night of Power, Night of Value, Night of Destiny and Night of Measures. Laylatul Qadr is very important night for the Muslims on which they try their best to do most of the ibadat and ask Allah for forgiveness and pray for the fulfilment of their desires. This night comes once in a year thus, Muslims must not miss praying at this night because it’s a very great and blessed night.
Laylatul Qadr is actually the night of the month of Ramadan in which Holy Quran was revealed on Holy Prophet (SAWW) for the first time.
[Translation] “Indeed, We revealed [the Qur’an] during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” (Quran, 97:1-5)
The Laylatul Qadr is actually one of the odd nights from the last ten nights of Ramadan. Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) said to seek the Night of Decree or Laylatul Qadr in one of the odd nights from the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan i.e., 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th Ramadan’s nights.
Muslims do ibadat on this blessed night. They offer tahajjud prayer and nawafil on the Laylatul Qadr. Moreover, Muslims also recite Holy Quran and make duas on the Night of Decree. Muslims also do zikr on Laylatul Qadr. Also, some Muslims observe ittekaf in last ten days of Ramadan thus, they observe ittekaf on this blessed night as well. This is because Muslims know the importance of Laylatul Qadr and earn great rewards by praying on this great night in the blessed month of Ramadan.
Laylatul Qadr is very important night for the Muslims because it takes place in the month of Ramadan and there is great significance of the month of Ramadan. Furthermore, Laylatul Qadr is important because it was the night in which Holy Quran was first revealed on Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW). Holy Quran itself is very important for the Muslims and thus, the night in which Holy Quran was revealed for the first time is naturally significant for the Muslims.
Moreover, there is mention of Laylatul Qadr in the Quran and Hadith as well which further shows the importance of this Night of Power. Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAWW) said: “Whoever stands (in prayer) in Laylatul Qadr while nourishing his faith with self-evaluation, expecting reward from Allah, will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
Thus, Laylatul Qadr is very important and blessed night that takes place in the month of Ramadan and Muslims must not only know the importance of this night but should also pray and make due on this night in order to seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT) and attain great rewards.
