Tajweed meaning is to make beautiful & perfect.
But in qari’s term Tajweed meaning is to pronounce letters from their Origin (makharij) and fulfill letter’s all Characteristics (sifaat).
Makharij (Origin)
For example Baa & Meem are only pronounced when we touch both lips together, so lips are origin of Baa & Meem.
Sifaat (Characteristics)
We pronounce letter Saad with heavy, thick & full sound, so full & heavy sound is a characteristic of Saad.
There are 29 letters & 17 Makharij. Makharij are less than letters because some Makharij can produce one or more letters.
