Ramadan is the ninth Islamic month in which Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. It is a month in which Muslims try to get more and more rewards. There are also many deeds/things you should do during Ramadan which we will discuss in this blog today.
Ramadan is an important month for Muslims and there has been mention of this holy month in both Quran and Hadith. A Quranic verse and hadith about Ramadan are mentioned below;
“The month of Ramadan (is the month) in which the Qur’an has been sent down as guidance for mankind containing clear signs…” (Quran, 2:185)
The Holy Prophet (SAWW) said, “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.” (Imam Bukhari)
Following are some important deeds/things you should do during Ramadan;
Muslims should do lots of zikr in Ramadan to gain more and more rewards. Zikr is the remembrance of Allah that can be done anytime as there is no specific time for zikr like the obligatory prayers. There are different zikrs which have great significance.
There is a great importance of tahajjud in Islam and Muslims should offer tahajjud prayer in Ramadan to get rewards and ask for forgiveness from Allah. There is a great significance of praying tahajjud in last part of the night and duas are accepted in that part.
Holy Prophet (SAWW) said, “Our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, comes every night down on the nearest Heaven to us when the last third of the night remains, saying: “Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?”” (Bukhari)
In Ramadan, you can easily pray tahajjud in last part of the night as you wake up for sehri before Fajr or in last part of the night. Thus, you should utilize your that time in Ramadan wisely by offering tahajjud and praying to Allah.
Giving charity for the sake of Allah in Ramadan is one of the good deeds that you should perform in this month in order to gain the pleasure of Allah and to get great rewards. There is also a great importance of giving charity in Ramadan which can also be understood by the following hadith;
“The best charity is that given in Ramadan.” (Tirmidhi)
Obligatory prayers must be performed whether it’s Ramadan or not as these are the duties of a Muslim. However, there is great significance of performing obligatory acts in Ramadan which can be cleared by the below mentioned hadith. Thus, Muslims must not skip performing the obligatory prayers in Ramadan.
“….And whoever performs an obligatory act during it (Ramadan), he is like whoever performed seventy obligatory acts in other times.” (Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah)
Muslims should pray on Laylat-ul-Qadr which is a night in which Quran was revealed for the first time. Holy Prophet (SAWW) stated to seek Laylat-ul-Qadr in one of the odd nights from last ten nights of Ramadan.
“Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards (not to show off) then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Hadith)
Taraweeh and aitekaf are also important deeds that Muslims can perform in this holy month of Islam.
Thus, Muslims should perform the above mentioned deeds in this blessed month to get rewards. Moreover, there are many other good deeds/things you should do during Ramadan like being kind to people in order to gain the pleasure of Allah and to attain great rewards. Thus, in this way, one can utilize the beautiful days of Ramadan in the best way.
