Hazrat Ayesha R.A, also known as the mother of believers, was a great woman in the history of Islam. She was the wife of our beloved Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) and daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA). She was third and the youngest wife of the Holy Prophet (SAWW) as she was married to him in a very early age.
Born in Makkah in 614 CE, Hazrat Ayesha (RA) was a born Muslims as her parents were already Muslims when she was born. Hazrat Ayesha (RA) said, “When I got to the age of understanding my parents were already Muslims.”
Before getting married to Hazrat Ayesha (RA), Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) saw a dream about her. In that dream, he (SAWW) saw that angel presented him something that was wrapped in silk. Holy Prophet (SAWW) asked the angel that what it was and the angel told him that this was his wife. When Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) removed that silk cover he saw that it was Hazrat Ayesha (RA).
Hazrat Ayesha R.A was married to Holy Prophet (SAWW) at the age of six. She was a kid at that time and very young so after marriage, her playful ways remained same as well and her friends used to visit her regularly. After her marriage, once at night, Her eyes got opened and she didn’t see Holy Prophet (SAWW) around her. This made her disturbed and so she started to search him in the darkness. During this, she finally touched the foot of the Holy Prophet (SAWW) and found him in prostration, so, she became relaxed.
Hazrat Ayesha (RA) had been gifted with great memory. If she used to hear something once, she never forgot it. Because of her good memory, she remembered the ahadees of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) and conveyed them to the Muslims as well. She narrated 2210 traditions.
Hazrat Ayesha (RA) was a great scholar as well and taught many Muslims who are great names of Islamic history. She gained more part of knowledge at the age when she was very young. She taught 200 students approximately. The some of the names of her students include: Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA), Hazrat Abu Musa Ashari (RA), Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (RA) and Hazrat Abdullah ibn Zubair (RA).
Hazrat Ayesha (RA) was very brave and courageous woman. She used to go to battlefields to aid the Muslims. In the battle of Uhud, she carried water in the leather bags on her back so that the Muslims who were fighting and injured would drink the water to demolish their thirst.
There are several verses of Quran which were revealed because of Hazrat Ayesha (RA). When she was wrongly accused of adultery by the hypocrites, Allah (SWT) revealed the verses (11 to 21) of Surah An Nur which defended her.
Thus, she was a great woman in the Islamic history who gave Muslims the ahadees of Holy Prophet (SAWW) via narrating them. Moreover, being a great scholar and teacher, she contributed a lot.
