Quran is the last book of Allah which He revealed on His last Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW). It is a book of guidance as it guides the Muslims to the right path. Therefore, there is a great importance of understanding Quran.

There are many rewards and benefits of the recitation of Quran. Likewise, there are many benefits of understanding Quran. By recitation, we only read especially if we don’t know Arabic but by understanding this Holy Book of Allah, we know the meanings of each and every word in Quran which is very important.

We can understand Quran by translation but it can be done best by learning Arabic first. When we will learn Arabic, we will come to know what we are reciting and what does it mean. That will be the point from where we will understand the Quran.

Quran has been revealed on our Prophet (SAWW) so that we can get guidance from it and lead our lives according to the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. That can only be done when we will understand Quran completely. Thus, there is a great importance of understanding Quran and we should make efforts to understand the message of our Lord, Allah (SWT).

Quranic verses about importance of understanding Quran:

1. “(This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect.” (Quran, 38:29)
2. “We have revealed for you (O men) a book in which there is a message for you, will you then not understand.” (21:10)

The above written verses of the Holy Quran clearly have a mention of understanding the Holy Quran which shows that it is very important to understand the last Book of Allah. One must ponder over the words of Quran and reflect in order to become better in life. Moreover, understanding Quran clear the minds of the people about many things and a person can stick to right things in his/her life.

Benefits of understanding the Quran:

There are many benefits of understanding the Quran and some of them are below;

1. You receive the guidance and knowledge
   
   By understanding the Quran, you get the message of guidance from Allah very clearly. This teaches you many things. If you will understand the Quran then you will have a lot of knowledge about various things like the universe and many facts about this life and the life hereafter.

2. Your mind gets clear

   If you understand the Quran well then your mind gets clear and you don’t have any confusion in your mind.

3. You know the actual meaning of many things

   As after understanding Quran, your mind gets clear, likewise, you know the actual meaning of many things. For instance, you get to know about the meanings of different verses and lessons hidden in them.

4. You live your life according to the straight path 

   After understanding Quran, you live your life as per the orders of Allah and you clearly know what is right or wrong so you lead your life as per the straight path.

Thus, understanding Quran is very important to lead a better life here and in another world as without understanding the last Book of Allah, a person will be unaware of many things that he/she must know.
