Islam is a religion that not only guides about how to pray and fast but it also teaches Muslims that how to walk and talk. Islam is therefore, a complete code of life which guides Muslims about every aspect of life. Likewise, there are some manners of speaking in Islam which guides the Muslims that how they should talk and what they should speak about. Thus, from eating to speaking, Islam teaches little details to big things of life to the Muslims.
The etiquettes of speaking are discussed in this blog today which will guide our readers about certain manners of speaking. These manners will make them good human beings who will be very mannered. Thus, following are some of the etiquettes of speaking in Islam;
It is taught to the Muslims to do not respond to bad words with evil words. Rather, one must make peace even in response to the bad words.
“And when the foolish addresses them (with bad words) they answer back with ‘Salamaa’ (peaceful words of gentleness).” (25:63)
The Muslims must guard their tongues from speaking the bad words that would displease Allah (SWT).
The Prophet (SAWW) said, “A person speaks a word thoughtlessly (i.e., without thinking about whether it is good or bad) and resultantly, will plummet into the fire of Hell deeper than the distance between the east and the west.” (Al-Bukhari & Muslim)
It is also the part of the manners of speaking according to which Muslims must not indulge in disputes and must give up the dispute even when he/she is right.
The Prophet (SAAW) said, “He who gave up disputing while he is right, a palace of high rank in Paradise will be built for him. He who gave up disputing while he is a fabricator, a palace in the centre of Paradise will be built for him.” (Tirmidhi)
A Muslim must not use abusive language in his speech as it is against the manners of speaking in Islam.
The Prophet (SAWW) stated, “The believer does not defame, abuse, disparage, nor vilify.”
It is the part of etiquettes of speaking in Islam that guides the Muslims to not to raise their voice and lower their voice otherwise the person looks ignorant and ill-mannered.
“…And lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys.” (Quran 31: 19)
The manners of speaking in Islam also include the etiquette of speaking slowly. One must speak slowly and not in haste in order to make people clear that what the person is speaking about. The Prophet (SAWW) used to speak slowly that enabled people to understand what he was saying.
Thus, Islam is a comprehensive religion that guides the Muslims about the little details of speaking even. This makes the Muslims mannered and introduces discipline in them. Hence, making Muslims an example for the others.
