Quran is a holy book of Allah which He revealed on His last messenger, Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW). There are many surahs in Quran and we have discussed about them before. However, Surah Kausar is also one of the surahs of Quran about which we will discuss today. Thus, in today’s blog, we will talk about Surah Kausar – benefits, meaning and translation.
Following are the Surah Kausar – benefits, meaning and translation;
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Innaa a’taina kal kauthar. Fa salli li rabbika wanhar. Inna shani-aka huwal abtar.
“’O beloved! Undoubtedly, We have bestowed you abundance of good. Therefore, offer prayer for your Lord, and do the sacrifice. Undoubtedly, one who is your enemy, he is cut of from every good.”
It is not that simple to explain the entire meaning of kausar in one word in any language of the world. It is actually an intensive form of the kathrat which is a noun that means in literal sense as abundance. The context in which it is used here doesn’t only mean abundance but it means abundance of good, spiritual advantages plus blessings and the abundance which is not bounded and is limitless. Also, it doesn’t mean the abundance of one good or advantage or blessing but the abundance of infinite number of blessings and benefits.
In Surah Kausar, it is stated that Allah has given abundance of good to the Holy Prophet (SAWW). Furthermore, it is said that offer prayer for your Allah and do the sacrifice. Allah has blessed Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) so much so He (SAWW) should pray for Allah alone and offer sacrifice for Allah only as explained by Maulana Maududi. Lastly, it is stated that the enemies of the Holy Prophet (SAWW) will receive are abtar who don’t receive any good.

I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim are one letter, but alif is a letter, lam is a letter and mim is a letter.” (Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 2137 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas’ud)
