From the six kalimahs of Islam, third Kalimah is Tamjeed which means the word of majesty. The third Kalimah in Arabic is as follow;
Subḥāna-llāhi, wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāhi, wa lā ilāha illā-llāhu, Wa-llāhu akbar, Wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāhi-l-ʿalīyyi-l-ʿaẓīm
Translation:
“Exalted is Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no deity except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. And the strength to prevent from the sins and to do good deeds is from Allah, Who is the Highest and Most Respectful.”
The Kalimah Tamjeed can be explained in a way that Allah is the most superior and all praises are for Allah. He is the greatest; Allah has created this universe, the galaxies and all other things and He is greatest of all. Only Allah is the One who deserves to be praised. There is no God except Allah; He is the only One and alone. There is none like Him. He is unique in His attributes and existence. None has the powers which Allah possesses. His powers of sight, hearing, will and all other powers are only His. Allah is alone and He has no off springs and parents. He is self-sufficient.
Moreover, Allah gives power and strength to man so that he could prevent himself from committing the sins and gives him beef for doing the good deeds. It is the will of Allah to guide whoever He wants. Allah is the Greatest and Most Respectful. Being the slaves and creation of Allah, we should always respect and obey Him.
The importance of reciting the third Kalimah can be easily understood from the above mentioned ahadees. In first hadith, it is clearly mentioned that Kalimah Tamjeed can cure every disease. The hadith can be elaborated in a way that reciting the third Kalimah in the time of disease cures that disease. Moreover, recitation of Kalimah Tamjeed in the hours of grief or sorrow also provides relief. This shows the importance and power of the third Kalimah of Islam.
The second hadith mentioned above also marks the significance of Kalimah Tamjeed. That hadith can be explained in a way that recitation of third Kalimah removes the sins and the removal of sins is resembled with the falling of leaves in the winter. Hence, reciting Kalimah Tamjeed is a way to get rid of your sins.
The third Kalimah of Islam is important for the Muslims to learn and therefore, parents should also make their children to learn this and all other kalimahs by heart and also make them to understand the meanings of all the Kalimahs so that they could know the essence of these sacred and beautiful words.
