The fourth Kalimah of Islam is Kalimah Tauheed which means the “Word of Oneness.” Tauheed itself means the belief in the oneness of Allah which is the basic part of a Muslim’s faith. The Kalimah Tauheed in Arabic is as follow;
lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu lahu l-mulku wa lahu l-ḥamdu yuḥyi wa yumītu wa huwa ḥayyu lā yamūtu abadan abadan dhu l-jalāli wa l-ʾikrām biyadihi-l khayr wa-huwa ʿala-kulli shayʾin qadīr
“(There is) no god except Allah – One is He, no partners hath He. His is the Dominion, and His is the Praise. He gives life and causes death. He is eternal. He will never die. Possessor of Majesty and Reverence. Within His Hand is (all) good. And He is, upon everything, Able (to exert His Will).”
The fourth Kalimah of Islam can be explained in a way that Allah is One and there is no God except Him. Only He deserves to be worshipped. Allah is unique in His existence. He has no partners and He is alone; Allah has no off springs and parents. He is the King and our Master; all praises are for Him. He is unique in His attributes. Only He has the power to give life and only He can take the life away by causing the death. Allah is Ever living and Eternal which means that He will never die. He is Great and there is goodness within the hand of Allah. He has power over everything and He rules everywhere and on everyone and everything.
The fourth Kalimah is all about the concept of Tauheed which means the belief in the Oneness of Allah. The belief in the uniqueness of Allah and that there is no God but Allah Who is One and Only is the concept of Tauheed. Without believing in Tauheed, one can’t be a Muslim.
The significance of Kalimah Tauheed can be understood via following hadith;
The fourth Kalimah Tauheed is the basic belief of every Muslim and all the Muslims strictly adhere to this belief as without this basic principle of faith, a person can’t be a Muslim. Moreover, learning the fourth Kalimah just like other Kalimahs is very important for a Muslim in order to know the spirit of their religion.
