In Quran, there is a mention of Salah several times that shows its importance. Moreover, many Quranic verses state to offer prayers which shows the significance of Salah. However, following are the translations of the Quranic verses in which there is a mention of namaz which shows its importance and as Muslims, we must know the significance of namaz.

O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful.” (Surah Al-Maidah, verse:6)

“Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them.” (Quran, 2:3)

“O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (Quran, 2:153)

Significance of Salah in the light of ahadith:

There is a mention of Salah in ahadith as well that further shows the importance of Salah. Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) asked Muslims to offer prayer. We can earn great rewards by praying regularly five times a day. Namaz is an ibadat and we can strengthen our connection with Allah by praying according to the Sunnah. Following are the ahadith that show us the importance of namaz;

“Prayer is the coolness of my eyes.” (Hadith)

“When time of prayer arrives, do not delay at all.” (Tirmizi)

“One who deliberately neglects his Salat has adopted the course of infidelity.” (Tirmizi)

“The first thing that Allah made obligatory upon my Ummah was the five prayers; and the first thing from their acts of worship that shall be taken up will be the five prayers; and the first thing that they will be questioned about will be the five prayers.” (Hadith)
