Eid ul Fitr is the event celebrated after Ramzan by the Muslims. This Eid is started with namaz on the time after the Fajr prayer. Most of the people forget how to offer namaz of Eid ul Fitr therefore, eQuran Academy provides the method of how to offer salat of Eid ul Fitr.

Part of Eid ul Fitr namaz:

There is one part of Eid ul Fitr namaz that is two rikaat wajib.

Method or steps of namaz e Eid ul Fitr:

The namaz of Eid ul Fitr is performed by the Muslims in congregation in mosque. The steps in two rikaat wajib of Eid ul Fitr are following;

First rikaat:

  • Neeyat:
    Neeyat is the first step of namaz e Eid ul Fitr. We state our neeyat (intention) that we are going to pray the salat of Eid ul Fitr. In the neeyat we say, “I intend to perform two rikaat wajib namaz of Eid ul Fitr with six Takbeerat behind (this) Imam” and then we raise hands in a manner in the image below in this blog and say, “Allahu Akbar.”

  • Steps after neeyat in first rikaat:
    After neeyat, first rikaat of wajib of Eid’s namaz is offered. In first rikaat after neeyat, while folding hands on chest, we recite Sanah. Then after recitation of Sanah, we raise both hands towards ears as in the image below and say, “Allahu Akbar” and then take the hands downward. Then again we raise both the hands towards ears and say, “Allahu Akbar” and then take the hands downward. Then again we repeat the same step and raise both the hands towards ears and say, “Allahu Akbar” and then fold the hands on chest. Imam recite taaooz, tasmeeh and then Surat ul Fatiha. After Surah e Fatiha, he recites a surat of Quran. Usually, Muslims recite Surah e Ikhlas. So after Imam recites Surah e Ikhlas, we say, “Allahu Akbar” in the same standing position with hands folded and then we go in Ruku and recite, “Subhana Rabbiyal Azeem” three times. Then we return to the standing position with hands down and recite, “Sami Allahu Liman hamida rabbana lakal hamd.” After that, we again say Allahu Akbar but in same standing position with hands down. Then we go to prostration (sajdah) and recite, “Subhana Rabbiyal Ala” thrice. After sajdah we rise, sit and say, “Allahu Akbar.” Then we again go in sajdah and say “Subhana Rabbiyal Ala” thrice and rise, sit and say, “Allahu Akbar” again. Here first rikaat gets over.

Second Rikaat:

  • Steps in second rikaat:
    After first rikaat, we stand up again and Imam recites Suarh e Faitha and Surah Ikhlas. Then we raise both hands towards ears as in the image below and say, “Allahu Akbar” and then take the hands downward. Then again we raise both the hands towards ears and say, “Allahu Akbar” and then take the hands downward. Then again we repeat the same step and raise both the hands towards ears and say, “Allahu Akbar” and then take the hands downward. At fourth time, without raising hands, we say Takbir and go in Ruku. From Ruku till second sajdah, everything remains same in second rikaat as it was in first rikaat. After second sajdah, we again sit, recite Allahu Akbar then At-tahiyyat then tashahhud with first finger of right hand raised. We then lower down the finger after reciting tashahhud till “muhammadan” and continue the recitation of the remaining part of tashahhud. Then we recite darood shareef and Rabbana or Rabb-e-ja’alni.

  • Salam:
    After reciting Rabbana or Rabb-e-ja’alni we turn our face towards right side or right shoulder and say, “As Salaam-u alaikum wa rahmatullahe wabarakatu.” Then we turn our face towards left side and say again, “As Salaam-u alaikum wa rahmatullahe wabarakatu.” This is called salam and two rikaat wajib of Eid ul Fitr prayer is finished here. And simultaneously, namaz of Eid ul Fitr is also finished or completed here.

After namaz, the Imam gives khutbah (sermon) and all Muslims should listen to it carefully. Also, Muslims should recite the following Takbeerat in the way before going to the mosque or Eid gah and in the way after leaving the Eid gah;

“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Llahu. Wa Llahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahi Lhamd.”
