Types, Rewards and Benefits of patience in Islam

Patience is a very beautiful concept in Islam which means to endure things when circumstances are hard. Patience is to bear tough things in difficult time. When one remains patient, he/she trusts Allah completely and he/she endures things in the hope of getting a relief from Allah (SWT). Thus, we decided to write on types, rewards and benefits of patience in Islam as it is a very important topic and deed.

Before knowing the benefits, rewards, and types of patience in Islam it is necessary to know what patience is. Patience is a good deed in Islam that includes endurance, restraint, perseverance, forbearance and diligence. This deed can also be a trait of Muslims which develops their hearts. Patience is in fact to be calm at the first strike of any difficulty, trail or calamity. A person can remain patient by trusting Allah (SWT) that everything happens to us by the will of Allah for our own good.

Types of Patience:

Following are the types of patience;

  1. Showing patience during the obedience of Allah (SWT) and worshipping Him.
  2. Patience in refraining from sins.
  3. Showing patience when you face a hard time in life.

Rewards and Benefits of Patience in Islam:

There are many rewards and benefits of patience in the religion of Islam. Patience helps us to remain steadfast and makes us stronger as we endure toughest things with beautiful patience and by trusting Allah. Moreover, we also get great rewards when we remain patient. Furthermore, we can learn about the rewards and benefits of patience in Islam from the following verses of the Holy Quran and saying of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW);

“Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace.” (Quran, 25:75)

“…Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.” (Quran, 39:10)

“Except for those who are patient and do righteous deeds; those will have forgiveness and great reward.” (Quran, 11:11)

Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) said, “Allah says, ‘I have nothing to give but Paradise as a reward to my salve, a true believer of Islamic Monotheism, who, if I cause his dear friend (or relative) to die, remains patient (and hopes for Allah’s Reward).’” [Al- Bukhari]

Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) said, “The believer who mixes with people and bears their annoyance with patience will have a greater reward than the believer who does not mix with people and does not put up with their annoyance.” (Ibn Majah)

Thus, patience is a very deep concept in Islam that gives man great rewards and benefits. So, whenever you face a tough time in life, you should trust Allah and remain patient and hope that this trail will pass. Hence, due to importance of patience we decided to write about types, rewards and benefits of patience in Islam so that you all can get guidance and try to be patient in your tough times.
