Quran is a book of wisdom and primary source of knowledge for the Muslims. This holy book guides the Muslims about each and every aspect of life. Likewise, we must know who are Gog and Magog in the light of Quran as this holy book tells us about them. By going through the Quranic verses about Gog and Magog, we can clearly understand about them and who they are. Being Muslims, we should always try to seek the knowledge and Quran is the only great book which is perfect and complete; which tells us about the things that will happen in future as well.

“They said, “O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are [great] corrupters in the land. So may we assign for you an expenditure that you might make between us and them a barrier?”” (Quran, 18:94)

“Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend.” (Quran, 21:96)

The above mentioned translation of the Quranic verse tells us about Gog and Magog who are also called as Yajuj and Majuj. They are called as the great corrupters in the land in the above mentioned verse. Another verse of Quran from Surah Anbya tells us about the arrival of Gog and Magog. The Yajuj and Majuj will come to this land shortly before the final day of Judgement. Thus, Quran clearly tells us about the arrival of Gog, and Magog on this earth.

Knowing about Gog and Magog from Hadith:

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that, “The Prophet (SAWW) said, “Allah has made an opening in the wall of the Gog and Magog (people) like this, and he made with his hand (with the help of his fingers).” [Volume 4, Book 55, Number 566]

It was narrated by Zainab bint Jahsh, “That the Prophet (SAWW) once came to her in a state of fear and said, “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. Woe unto the Arabs from a danger that has come near. An opening has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog like this,” making a circle with his thumb and index finger. Zainab bint Jahsh said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Shall we be destroyed even though there are pious persons among us?” He said, “Yes, when the evil person will increase.”” [Volume 4, Book 55, Number 565]
